Project Sampark is an outreach program of Snehalaya which caters to the welfare of the Differently abled Children and Adults who are home bound. In this project we reach out to more severely affected disabled Children and adults who are home bound and who do not get admission in institutions for the differently abled in and around the City of Pune.
In a survey conducted by Snehalaya in the first quarter of the year 2021, we noticed that there are many disabled who are home bound who need care and attention. The parents of these children are also under severe stress as there is no one to help or support them. Therefore, Snehalaya as an Institution is more inclusive and is committed to the welfare of the Differently abled wherever they are.
Mode of operation
An expert team consisting of Snehalaya Physiotherapist, Social Worker and Nurse visit these families after having identified them and informing them of our visit. The team is always given a warm welcome by the families. A lot of time is spent with the families, giving emotional support, reassurance, guidance and counselling etc. The physiotherapist will try to teach the parents a few exercises which in turn they can use on the child. Therapy equipments,
alkers, Wheel chairs etc are provided as per their need. The Team will also make the family aware of the Government schemes etc which can be availed by them. A continuity is ensured as an appointed Staff of Snehalaya keeps in regular touch with the family and they can always call us for emergencies and Ambulance services.
Success of the Project
In a short period of time, we have managed to reach out to around 30 families. We have given them needed equipments and also distributed food and grocery items. We have purchased 50 Wheel chairs, Walkers and other equipments to be distributed in the near future. We intend to reach out to at least Fifty families with disabled persons in future. This is also an opportunity to reach out to our former students who have passed out of Snehalaya and who need our further encouragement and support. Through our visits we evaluate whatever they do at home, encourage them and also provide help when required.
